from inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, stopping Bruno Silva with first-round elbows in the clinch.

Both fighters desperately needed a win entering Saturday night. Barriault, who was fighting in front of his home crowd, was riding a three-fight losing streak (including back-to-back knockout losses). Silva, who had never been finished by strikes in his MMA career coming into tonight, was coming off four-straight defeats inside of the Octagon. Someone was going to fall and fall fast.

Fortunately for the Canadian crowd in attendance, Barriault got off to a hot start. Silva was actually delivering some offense this time around compared to his stale performances of late, but Barriault was finding his range more often. “Power Bar” was eventually able to work his way inside and take advantage of his top-level clinch game. Barriault scored short punches followed by two violent elbows, one of which slept Silva and sent him crashing to the canvas. Barriault poured on a few more punches, but the damage was already done.

Sadly, Silva was super slow to regain consciousness and wasn’t able to leave the cage under his own power. UFC doctors called in the stretcher and assisted Silva to the onsite ambulance backstage. It was a pretty scary scene, but still a highlight-reel performance by Barriault.
