KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The rain looks to be moving away this weekend and the weather is warming up just in time for some big events across the Kansas City area.

Some of the highlights include the 2025 Big Slick Celebrity weekend and Festa Italiana.

Big Slick Celebrity Weekend

Dozens of stars, including Johnny Knoxville, Kenan Thompson, David Cook and Fortune Feimster are joining hosts David Koechner, Jason Sudeikis, Paul Rudd, Heidi Gardner, Eric Stonestreet and Rob Riggle for the 16th annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend.

The weekend includes the Big Slick softball game at Kauffman Stadium on Friday. Anyone with a ticket to the Royals game can watch the celebrity softball game before the pros take the field.

The Big Slick Party & Show at T-Mobile Center is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. Tickets start at $75 and are still on sale.


Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City will welcome their AL Central rival Detroit Tigers to town for a huge three-game series from Friday-Sunday.

There will be multiple events before and after each game.


  • Friday

    – First pitch will be at 7:10 p.m., with Fireworks Friday following immediately after.

  • Saturday

    – First pitch will be at 3:10 p.m. with Mike Moustakas pregame ceremony pregame. It is also a K-State Day and there will be a postgame concert from Maverick City Music.

  • Sunday

    – First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. There will be Día de los Niños events before the game. Postgame will include the Sunday Fun Run.


Hospital Hill Run

It’s the 52nd anniversary of this longtime Kansas City road race. The Hospital Hill Run takes participants through the Crossroads, Crown Center and more. There are 5K, 10K and half marathon options, or take your run “virtual” and complete it personally.

  • Where: Grand Boulevard and Pershing Road, Kansas City

Festa Italian

Enjoy delicious Italian food and live entertainment all weekend long at Zona Rosa. Attendees can also enjoy an Italian motorsports show, a cannoli eating contest, Catholic mass on Sunday and local vendors.

Movie Night on the Lawn

Every Saturday night through October, families can enjoy Hollywood blockbusters on The Lawn at Legends Outlets. This weekend they will be showing the new musical film “Wicked.” Full bar service will be available to purchase inside Yard House or you can grab a drink at Dave & Buster’s mobile bar to enjoy.

  • When: 7-9 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Legends Outlets in Kansas City, Kansas
  • Cost: Free


Kansas City Hip-Hop Week

Kansas City Hip Hop Week is a new, week-long, event celebrating the culture and accomplishments of hip-hop in Kansas City. Hip-hop week will feature performances, seminars, dance classes, and more.
