The Benjamin Girls Track & Field Team

The Buccaneers secured the Class 1A state championship on May 10 in Jacksonville. They amassed 61 points, comfortably surpassing second-place Maclay with 45 points and third-place Pahokee with 37 points.

Sophia Balistreri, Benjamin Junior from Oak Hall, clinched first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.47. In second place was Estella Collante from the same school, finishing at 2:14.91.

Balistreri came in third place in the 1600 meters race with a timing of 5:12.55.

Junior Akari Marshall secured second place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.22 seconds. The race was clinched by Lee Peters from Foundation Academy who completed it in 11.60 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Marshall took third position with a timing of 24.23 seconds, following Tampa Prep’s Cai Culpepper who came first at 23.69 seconds and again Lee Peters taking the second spot with 23.79 seconds.

Benjamin’s two relay teams secured second place finishes. The 4×800 meter relay squad clocked 9:32.40, placing them just after Providence. Meanwhile, the 4×100 meter relay team recorded a time of 48.11 seconds, finishing right behind Maclay. Additionally, the 4×400 relay team ended up in fourth position.

Oxbridge Academy’s Joliana Simon wins 1A discus throw

Oxbridge freshman Joliana Simon won the 1A discus throw with a heave of 132 feet, 6 inches. She also finished seventh in the shot put (35 feet, 3 inches).

Pahokee triumphs in the 4×400 meter girls relay.

The Pahokee girls clocked a 3:53.35 to win gold in the 4 x 400 relay.
