GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – There is a suspected measles exposure in Mesa County.

According to Mesa County Public Health (MCPH), an unvaccinated adult from El Paso County passed through the Loves Travel Shop and Carl’s Junior at 748 22 Road in Grand Junction on May 27.

They say anyone who visited that location between 6-10 p.m. could have been exposed.

Alli Howe, MCPH Chief Health Strategist, said there is little concern about a Measles outbreak in Mesa County.

“We have ongoing relationships with our school districts and our hospitals, places where there are a lot of people convening together, such as public schools, for if we do have a cluster or more cases. But to date, this potential exposure is the only one we have in Mesa County,” said Howe.

MCPH is working closely with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, along with local businesses, to monitor this exposure.

If anyone who visited this location or starts to exhibit symptoms such as fever, cough, red eyes, or a rash, they are encouraged to reach out to 970-254-4120.

“I think we’re safe as long as we keep doing what we’re really good at in Mesa County, taking care of each other and doing that preventative work,” said Howe.
