South Central Public Health District updates information about measles exposure
Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The South Central Public Health District (SCPHD) has released
updated information
about measles exposure in the region.
It is reported that there were no new measles cases in the Mini-Cassia region.
A case of measles was confirmed in late May in an
international traveler
on a business meeting. Although there have been no new cases reported, health officials warn the timeframe of measles symptoms is ongoing, and it is advised to monitor for symptoms over the next couple weeks.
Symptoms of measles may include a fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes. There may also be symptoms of Koplik spots-tiny bluish-white spots with a red halo in the mouth-typically appearing one to four days before the measles rash develops
SCPHD urges residents to call their primary healthcare provider if symptoms appear so proper preparations can be made before visiting a medical facility.
So far in 2025, 96% of confirmed measles cases in the U.S. have occurred in individuals who were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status.
SCPHD reminds residents to consider getting an MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine either through their primary care provider or
the SCPHD office
