The Griffins are three wins shy of trying the program record of 29 straight wins set in 2023 to begin the season. Their next three games are against O’Fallon on May 14, Civic Memorial on May 15 and Pleasant Plains on May 16.

Mater Dei is 5-12.

The Griffins took an early 2-0 advantage following the first inning and added three more runs in the fourth and another two in the fifth. The Knights managed to score their only run in the sixth inning.

Drew Kleinheider went 1 for 3 with three RBIs, while Omar Avalos and Justin Terhaar both recorded two hits and one RBI each. Kannon Kamp finished 2 for 4 at bat.

Terhaar has recorded a hit in 12 consecutive games. His average stands at a team-leading .518, along with leading the team with 34 RBIs.

Avalos is currently on an eight-game hitting streak.
