Recently, the Oregon Ducks have not been faring well in their efforts to recruit new players.

Questions have arisen about Dan Lanning due to his 2026 recruiting class not meeting widespread expectations.

As NIL funds flow into Eugene, the Ducks have managed to attract top-tier talent in recent seasons.

Following a remarkable 13-1 season – where they clinched the Big Ten title and secured a spot in the College Football Playoffs – Oregon boasts an impressive selling point for potential recruits.

The funds are available, and Lanning is also constructing on-field achievements to complement the caliber of players he has managed to attract.

Still, he’s whiffed on a few high-level recruits as of late.

At present, Oregon’s recruiting class for 2026 stands at number 14 overall. It falls short of their second-place ranking in the 2025 recruitment cycle.

There’ plenty of time for Lanning to bounce back, however, and he took one step closer to doing so on Saturday.

Oregon has secured a pledge from top 2026 linebacker Richard Wesley. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 255 pounds, the California native selected the Ducks over offers from Texas, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

Lanning and Oregon needed a win on the recruiting trail, and securing the edge rusher is exactly that.
