‘Gilmore Girls’ Alum, 81, Turns Heads on the 2025 Gotham TV Awards Red Carpet
A beauty for the ages.
Kelly Bishop
looked stunning while attending the 2025 Gotham Television Awards in New York City on Monday, June 2.
The former
Gilmore Girls
actress, 81, posed on the red carpet in a head-turning metallic blouse, mini silk jacket, and black trousers. Bishop paired the look with classic silver hoops and her signature red hair was styled to perfection.
Although Bishop is often recognized as complex matriarch Emily Gilmore on
Gilmore Girls
, she has a career that spans decades. Currently, Bishop is appearing on
Amy Sherman-Palladino
and
Daniel Palladino
’s new series,
Étoile
.
“Well, Kelly has been in every one of our shows, so we couldn’t break the streak now,” Sherman-Palladino, 58, gushed to
TV Insider
. “We just can’t do a show without Kelly in it. She’s been in every show, and once you work with Kelly Bishop, you only want to work with Kelly Bishop.”
Sherman-Palladino isn’t kidding! Bishop was on
Gilmore Girls
from 2000 to 2007,
Bunheads
from 2012 to 2013, and
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
from 2017 to 2023. She also reprised her role as Emily Gilmore in 2016’s
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
.
In
Étoile
, Bishop plays Clara McMillan, the witty mother of a ballet director. Although her background in dance didn’t land her the role, it certainly doesn’t hurt.
“The fact that she was a dancer is so cool and that she’s the original Sheila from A Chorus Line and she’s got the gams still, so it was just sort of a given because we can’t do anything without Kelly,” Sherman-Palladino added.
