In reaction to a survey indicating that the Democratic Party’s popularity had declined by 12% since September, whereas the Republican Party’s approval ratings had increased, Carville commented:

I agree with everything you’ve said, but let me add this: While Democrats may be struggling with their numbers or reputation, they’re still managing to win elections consistently. Their current situation might seem dire—whether you describe it as poor performance or something worse—but my point is that their electoral success continues unabated.

We’ve just secured victory in Omaha and ousted a 12-year incumbent. Our campaign has been successful in both Senate and House districts where Trump received votes up to 20 points higher than ours in Iowa. Similarly, we achieved success in Wisconsin with a margin of 10 points.

I’m not particularly worried about mid-May of 2025. If we begin, for instance—Virginia will be next on our list, where we expect to emerge victorious. At that time, the political media will focus on poll figures, and I’ll keep an eye on the electoral outcomes.

He finished with, “What I’m saying is, it’s clear the party lacks a strong image, yet it’s undeniable that in these non-presidential election years, people are casting their votes for the Democrats.”
