Big One News
exclusively reported

on the pilot pickup in March. The official logline for the project states that it is “An ensemble comedy set at a Native community center in Oakland, Calif. The employees hustle to keep the lights on while lifting up those in need.”

The pilot hails from writers Sierra Teller Ornelas, Jackie Keliiaa, and Wilson. All three are also executive producers, with Teller Ornelas set to serve as showrunner. Morgan Sackett will also executive produce. Universal Television, where both Teller Ornelas and Sackett are under overall deals, is the studio.

Schmieding will star as Josie Two-Shoes, who is described as “An educated go-getter, Josie recently became the director of the community center and wants to make her mark.”

The role reunites Schmieding with the show’s creative team, as she was previously the lead on the Peacock comedy “Rutherford Falls.” Teller Ornelas co-created that series and served as showrunner, while Sackett was an executive producer. Wilson was a writer on the series and also appeared onscreen as casino employee Wayne. Schmieding’s other TV credits include “Reservation Dogs” and “The Great North.”

She is repped by CAA and 3 Arts.

Wilson will play Bobby Renville, said to be “Basically raised by the center, he loves to stir the pot, but as soon as it boils over he’s out of there.” Wilson has acted in, wrote for, and produced “Reservation Dogs,” which wrapped up after three seasons in 2023. He has also written for the Marvel series “Echo” and appeared in the hit FX series “What We Do in the Shadows.” He is a founding member of the Native sketch troupe The 1491s.

He is repped by IAG, Artillery Creative, and Hirsch Wallerstein.

Studi will star as Frank Henry Jr., “A loveable, yet blunt elder who runs all the support programs at the center.” Studi is a highly-accomplished actor with a career spanning five decades. He is known for standout performances “Dances With Wolves,” “The Last of the Mohicans,” “Heat,” “Skinwalkers,” “The New World” and many more. He also appeared in multiple episodes of “Reservation Dogs” as the character Bucky.

He is repped by Innovative and Michael Black Management, Inc.

Dratch will play Cheryl, described as “The community center’s groovy and delightfully weird support staff.” Dratch has been a fixture at NBC for years, beginning with her seven-year run on “Saturday Night Live.” She has also been in NBC shows like “30 Rock,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Mr. Mayor,” as well as shows like “King of Queens,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and “Inside Amy Schumer.”

She is repped by Untitled Entertainment and Peikoff Mahan.

In addition to the Teller Ornelas-Keliiaa-Wilson pilot, NBC also has the

cheerleading comedy pilot “Stumble”

in the works. Most recently, the broadcast network picked up the comedy

“The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins”

for the 2025-2026 broadcast season. NBC previously renewed the comedies “St. Denis Medical” and “Happy’s Place,” while

both “Night Court” and “Lopez vs. Lopez”

were recently canceled.
