Set against the chaotic backdrop of World War I, their romance unfolds as Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) come together in 18th-century Scotland.
The duo joined forces with the original cast, including Sam Heughan who plays Jamie Fraser, to tease what’s in store in the upcoming Starz spin-off during a special panel celebrating World Outlander Day, reports
the Scottish Daily Express
.
At the event, Corfield and Irvine dropped hints about the poignant twists that lie ahead.
“I have a question, why did you leave me?” Balfe playfully asked her new on-screen kin.
Irvine disclosed the on-screen couple embarks on a “romantic trip” to Scotland following Claire’s birth.
“You were a f****** nightmare when you were a child, right?” he quipped. “We needed a break.”
Realizing his slip, he bumbled, “We leave you… we go off on a holiday… good point.”
Balfe quirkily responded: “Claire has abandonment issues and I want them sorted right now!”
Expanding on their characters’ decision, Irvine explained: “We love Claire but after everything our characters had been through, we wanted to go on a holiday just us.”
Newly released clips from the series reveal that a significant portion of the drama will unfold on the WWI battlefields, suggesting that Julia and Henry will be in dire need of some downtime post-war.
However, fans should brace themselves as this peaceful interlude is unlikely to last.
Early episodes of the original series reveal that Claire has scant knowledge about her parents due to their untimely demise in a car accident when she was just five years old.
If Blood of My Blood continues its run for several seasons, it’s plausible that the series finale might revolve around this heartbreaking incident, resulting in Julia and Henry’s daughter being brought up by her uncle.
But given the recurring theme of time travel in Outlander, could there be a possibility of a supernatural twist enabling them to escape to a different era?
Fans are on tenterhooks awaiting further revelations.
In the meantime, the primary series still has one more season left to wrap up Claire and Jamie’s sweeping historical romance.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres Friday, 8th August on Starz. Outlander is available to stream on MGM+ via Prime Video.
