Trump’s clip prompted some to question just how much the president had spent on golf over the first four months of his second term. One person turned to Grok – the AI tool introduced to the social media platform under the president’s senior advisor and ally, Elon Musk – for answers.

“Hey @grok, can you estimate the amount of money American taxpayers have spent on allowing President Trump to play golf during his presidency?” the user inquired.
Another asked: “Is this really the job of a president? Seriously?”
At the same time, another voice added, “I believe Donald Trump isn’t actually a president; he’s more of a skilled comedian, right?”
While Grok places Trump’s estimated total golf spend so far at $151.5million, the real figure was thought to be closer to $24million as of April 2025.
Based on the official White House schedule, Trump had already spent eight straight weekends playing golf at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, by that time.
While the president’s visits to Mar-a-Lago are an out-of-pocket expense, the bill for the necessary protection services for him and his family is footed by taxpayers. His businesses charge for housing Secret Service employees at his hotels and other properties while Trump visits and plays golf.
A 2019 Government Accountability Office (GAO) study found each of President Trump’s trips during his first term cost approximately $3.4million.
These numbers encompass the cost of utilizing both Air Force One and another cargo plane to transport the presidential convoy from Washington D.C., all the way to Palm Beach International Airport.
Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas’s 30th congressional district criticized the president last month, estimating that his golf outings had cost taxpayers an astounding $26 million by the end of March.
During a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) subcommittee hearing focused on the utilization of federal structures, she stated: “The first thing we should prioritize for elimination are Trump’s tariffs… If our discussion revolves around enhancing efficiency and considering various solar panel options, then we must address the reality that up until March 31st, Trump’s golf outings have amounted to roughly $26 million in expenses.”
Following the Twitter post, another reviewer posted an image of Trump with his arms crossed, featuring the caption: “The weakest president in recent history, a coward as commander-in-chief.”
Someone else labeled the president as the “most unintelligent, corrupt, and sensitive” leader up until now.
Nevertheless, not everybody shared the same criticism. One individual commented, “It’s fascinating how folks seem to believe there’s this ideal ‘presidential guidebook’ dictating how a leader ought to conduct themselves.”
He’s genuine, he’s humorous, and most crucially, he isn’t attempting to peddle some polished, idealized political persona. How could I feel remorse about casting my vote for sincerity?
