Marketing its airwaves as a place where “the pride party never stops,” two Washington LGBTQ+ nonprofits introduced a streaming station Monday focused on queer artists and allies.

Although launched during

WorldPride,

Pride365 Radio will go beyond the District’s June celebration of the international LGBTQ+ community, aiming to stream all year and 24 hours each day. Pride365 and The Capital Pride Alliance (CPA,) both LGBTQ+ advocacy groups based in the District were behind the station’s launch.

Note, however, the station is not available on terrestrial AM or FM radio dials and can only be broadcast using music streaming apps or on the station website, Pride365.org.

Jerry Houston, who serves as the entertainment director for CPA, will now also function as Pride365 Radio’s program director and the first-ever personality on the station with a daily show running from 12 to 6 p.m.

“We’re curating the ultimate soundtrack for the queer experience,” Houston said. “Whether you’re getting ready for a night out, marching in a parade or just need that midday lift, this station brings the energy, the emotion and the icons.”

CPA listed nine of these contemporary icons, all of whom are openly LGBTQ+, as examples for the type of music that will play on the music station. Those singers are listed below:

Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, Kim Petras, Lil Nas X, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Renee Rapp

Among the group, Sivan, Rapp and Petras have been slated to perform at WorldPride this year. Past headliners, including Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor would also be featured on Pride365, according to CPA.

CPA also listed five retro artists that Pride365 honors as “legends who have soundtracked the queer journey.” These singers, while not necessarily openly LGBTQ+, all managed to have their impact on everything from drag balls to music video nights, with music that charted in the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s:

Madonna, Cher, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox and CeCe Peniston

Beyond music, CPA vowed to include “intimate interviews and community spotlights” as part of their programming, according to spokeswoman Jackie Trimble.

“We believe that Pride is more than any single event; it’s a commitment that we make 365 days a year,” Trimble said.
