Predicted West Ham Team for Match Against Manchester United

How West Ham Has Been Aligning Lately

Potter, who was once quite experimental with his team selections, has resided to a 3-4-3 in recent matches, which has led to mixed fortunes. That being said, we expect Potter to play a 4-2-3-1 against their London rivals.

Alphonse Areola continues to be West Ham’s top choice between the posts. Even though he recorded back-to-back shutouts against Arsenal and Leicester City at home, he hasn’t managed to keep a clean sheet in his past eight games.

Potter has consistently played a back five consisting of two wing-backs, with Oliver Scarles who has replaced Emerson in recent matches at left-wing back and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-wing back. The centre-back trio is made up of Max Kilman, whom former manager Julen Lopetegui signed from Wolves in the summer, Aaron Cresswell and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Lucas Paqueta, James Ward-Prowse, and Carlos Soler frequently rotate through the midfield positions along with Tomas Soucek. The latter found the back of the net during West Ham’s previous away game.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have primarily been used as wingers throughout most of the season but have stepped in to fill the role left by striker Niclas Fullkrug when he got hurt. After transferring from Dortmund, Fullkrug has netted three goals and provided two assists in 14 Premier League games so far.

West Ham Recent Form

Potter’s tenure at the helm of the East London club hasn’t met the desired outcomes yet, as his squad hasn’t shown significant progress since taking over from Lopetegui, who was let go following an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Manchester City. In Potter’s 20 games overseeing West Ham, this resulted in his ninth defeat. The Spanish manager is now leading the Qatari national team instead.

Regarding Potter, his team sits at 17th place. Although they might avoid being relegated to the Championship, their last victory was against the relegated Leicester City way back in February. Since then, West Ham has failed to secure a win in their past eight games, ending up with four draws and suffering four losses during this period.

The latest game for West Ham took place at their stadium against local foes Tottenham. A Bowen equalizer early in the first half ensured that each team left with a share of the spoils. This marked his 11th goal across all contests this campaign.

Following Potter’s tenure, West Ham has secured victories in just three games, with opponents scoring late goals in each of their past three fixtures. This run features an unsuccessful attempt to defeat relegated Southampton at home when they conceded near the end of play, despite Southampton holding statistical records as one of the weakest teams ever in league history. Additionally, during this period, they let Carlos Alcaraz score in the 92nd minute, having been ahead up until the 89th minute.

This result leaves West Ham in 17th, two points from their opponents Manchester United.

Injuries to Watch for West Ham

Potter will have just three injuries to take into account when choosing his team selection for West Ham’s clash in Manchester.

Crysencio Summerville will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, while Michail Antonio is unavailable because of a broken leg.

Edson Alvarez is sidelined due to a back injury sustained during West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Premier League champion Liverpool, but hopes are high that he might be fit before the last game of their league season.
